This recognition has filled me with immense gratitude and pride in my career and the journey I have been on.

A Day to Remember: Receiving the Leo Doerfler Award

10/07/2025 | Local News, Patient Resources

After an intense day of lobbying on the Hill, advocating for the passage of the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act, I found myself unexpectedly in a position that was both surreal and deeply humbling.

As I listened to the description of the award recipient by the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA), it slowly dawned on me that those words of recognition were meant for me

The esteemed Leo Doerfler Award, given for providing outstanding clinical services to the community over a career, was being presented to me. To say I was surprised would be an understatement!

Everyday Achievements Turned Monumental Milestones

It was overwhelming to hear such praise for what I simply consider the dedication to my life’s work. For me, all these accomplishments are just my day-to-day life! Hearing them vocalized in that setting made me realize the tremendous impact my work has had in the community.

This recognition has filled me with immense gratitude and pride in my career and the journey I have been on.

What made the moment even more special was having my husband and our beautiful children present to witness this milestone in my career. Seeing their smiling faces and feeling their support reinforced the driving force behind everything I do: my commitment to those I serve and the community I cherish.

A Grateful Thank You: Looking Forward

I must extend my heartfelt thanks to whoever nominated me, and to the board members who decided on the award’s recipients. It is truly an incredible honor and one I certainly was not expecting.

With this award, I am more inspired than ever to continue forward in my work; my passion for enhancing quality of life through better hearing is at the core of my practice.

As I look to the future, I remain firmly dedicated to uplifting my community through the healing power of better hearing.

Whether I am in our new and improved clinic here in Anchorage or traveling across the US to provide hearing healthcare across the northwest, I love doing what I do for the mission of helping my community thrive with happy, healthy hearing.

Together, we can continue to make a profound difference in the lives of so many. Your trust and support fuel my commitment every day to helping you and other members of our community hear the lives you love!
