What Does This Mean And Why Is It Important For The People Of Anchorage & Eagle River?
Being partners of the CPN and Northwest Hearing Alliance means we’re now licensed to perform specific testing that determines whether someone is eligible for cochlear implants.
It also means that through our testing, we are able to refer our patients to a specific surgeon who specializes in cochlear implant surgery, which not many hearing and tinnitus centers have access to.
The reason why this is important to the people of Anchorage and Eagle River is that it means we can now help every single person who comes to see us, from those with a mild or moderate hearing loss, to those with the most severe variety – the latter of which are more likely to benefit from cochlear implants.

What Is A Cochlear Implant?
Cochlear implants are stunningly advanced medical devices that are implanted within the ear and are capable of restoring your hearing as close to its natural state as possible (if your hearing loss is severe).
Cochlear implants can be placed in one ear (unilateral) or both ears (bilateral), and both children from as young as six-to-twelve months and adults can benefit from the much-improved hearing quality they offer.
For people with a severe hearing loss, hearing aids might just not be enough, which is why this highly specialized surgery is offered in the most extreme cases, giving people the joy of hearing again.
