Why Alaska Hearing & Tinnitus Center Are Prepared For Whatever Happens Next | Our Big Lessons From COVID And Our Long-Term Promise To You

06/16/2021 | News, Patient Resources

Achieving better hearing is a two-way street: it requires you to make the first step to get help and an experienced health care provider to make your journey as smooth as possible.

But, in order to do that, you have to know that the hearing healthcare provider you’ve chosen is here for the long-haul and is able to deliver on their promises and have the protocols/plans in place to ensure that no matter what happens in the world, you remain the center focus of theirs.

The problem is if you’ve been following the news lately, putting your trust into a small business isn’t easy, as unfortunately, so many have suffered and gone under in the wake of the pandemic.

So, What Can You Do To Ensure You Choose Wisely?

Who to partner with for your hearing health needs requires extra consideration, and you need the confidence that they won’t be here today and gone tomorrow like so many other small businesses.

That’s why, in this article, I want to share with you some of our biggest lessons from the pandemic and the steps we have taken to ensure that we can deliver on our long-term promises to you and the hundreds of local people that trust us for all their hearing healthcare needs.

The Lessons From The Pandemic

#1 Creativity: We amped up our telehealth & introduced curbside services. This allowed patient care to continue without risking our health or the health of our patients.

#2 Perseverance: I take my responsibility to serve my patients seriously. When the hunker down mandates were issued, I knew I needed to find a way not to abandon my patients in this time of great need.

#3 Life-long learning: I used my unexpected “downtime” to learn! I brushed up on areas of audiology that I haven’t worked on within a few years, learned new techniques, worked with newly released products, & introduced cochlear implants into our practice!

We’re More Prepared Than Ever

Even though we are seeing patients full time inside our practice, we are continuing our curbside services indefinitely.

We discuss telehealth with every patient, so they never worry about having access to us! I feel if another lockdown occurred, the lessons from the past year will successfully guide us into the next obstacle.

If a situation similar to the pandemic happens again – or a local stay-at-home order is ever forced upon us (although I’m sure you join me in hoping this will never be the case!), we have an emergency plan that we can immediately action, which includes:

  • A home delivery service for all supplies
  • Remote care protocols to provide counseling and adjustments
  • Masked curb-side appointments to be available
  • Utilization of technology to communicate (website and voicemail).

These steps mean that we have plans in place, no matter what is thrown at us.

Looking At The Future

Audiology is my passion! Alaska is my home! AHTC is growing & expanding! We have exciting plans as we continue to bring the most current practices to Alaska, and of course, Maytal, our resident, who many have met & enjoyed over the past year, will be joining us as our newest Doctor of Audiology!

Our Promise To You

We will always be here, putting you first.

We NEVER had a period where we couldn’t help our patients. As essential healthcare providers, we never lost the ability to help those who needed us most. As we have the ability to operate remotely for most services, we can continue to best serve our patient’s needs indefinitely.

This continued pursuit for better, and by making patient preferences a priority, our promise is to be here for you for the long haul.

If you’re considering who to partner with and want to ensure that you choose somebody that has your back, both now and forever, I sincerely hope that this article supports you in your decision.
