Tele Audiology – Our Pioneering Service for Alaskans

09/25/2020 | Hearing Test, Patient Resources, Tele Audiology

Back in 2018, we knew we needed to offer more than a simple walk-in service.

People were accessing our clinic from all over Alaska, and during these sometimes long trips, they could be plagued by harsh, hazardous conditions.

That’s why we came up with the idea of creating a dedicated telehealth service, Tele Audiology, which patients could access from the comfort of their homes.

Now, as everyone continues to adapt to the pandemic, this foresight means we can support our patients no matter their situation.

But I know that some still aren’t familiar with this service. So I thought I’d give you an insight into what it is and how it works so that you can take advantage!

So What Is Tele Audiology?

Tele Audiology is a service that lets you receive technical support and professional advice direct to your home via your internet connection or phone line.

In many ways, it mirrors what you would find if you came for an appointment at the center, except for the fact that you won’t be in physical contact with me or others.

The best way to receive this service is through your computer, smartphone, or tablet. These devices will let me chat with you, face to face, using the video call function.

In addition, those with state-of-the-art hearing aids, equipped with a “remote assist” feature, can also order program updates and adjustments direct from me.

In short, this is a safe and convenient method for making sure you keep on top of your hearing health needs now and in the future.

How Do I Book A Tele Audiology Appointment?

All our existing patients can opt for Tele Audiology appointments instead of in-clinic meetings at no extra cost – getting troubleshooting advice and support at the touch of a button.

But we are providing free, no-obligation 15-minute consultations for those who are new to Alaska Hearing and Tinnitus Center, where you can find out more about a concern or issue.

If you’d like to find out more about these, contact us at (907) 522-4357 or contact us on our website, and we can offer you further insights.

The way you book a Tele Audiology appointment couldn’t be more straightforward:

  • First, fill out a “schedule a Tele Audiology Consultation” form – this will let the team know that you’re interested so that they can contact you about a suitable time and date.
  • Then, you’ll get your confirmation email – this will confirm all the arrangements and will give you details about how to get ready for your appointment.
  • Finally, tap on the link that we sent you – this will be highlighted in your email, and all you’ll need to do is click on it when it’s time to chat with Emily!
