OTO Tinnitus Relief
Habituation and Lasting Tinnitus Relief With Oto
Our team members are no strangers to how tinnitus affects your entire life, from the way you sleep to the way you work.
That’s why we decided to offer even more options for tinnitus relief for our patients across Anchorage and beyond.
Oto is a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) that works to provide lasting tinnitus relief.
With a 96 percent success rate, Oto’s proven results combine science-backed techniques with personalized treatment options to help you take control of your tinnitus.
If you’ve been struggling with a ringing or fluttering in your ears, our team can help you with Oto’s digital program so you can rejoin the conversations you’re missing without frustrating noise accompanying them.

How Does Oto Work?
Oto is a digital program that works over your phone to help you manage your tinnitus with personalized techniques you can employ from the comfort of your home.
There are a few steps to how Oto will work for your tinnitus treatment and management.
Recommendation
After a tinnitus consultation with our team, if we determine you’re a good fit, we’ll recommend Oto as a tool for managing your tinnitus.
Personalization
In addition to our consultation, you’ll complete a series of questions through the Oto program. This helps further tailor the program to your individual needs.
Treatment
You’ll work through the Oto program at your own pace via the app. Designed for efficiency, it requires just 10 minutes a day to complete an audio session using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to help retrain your brain’s response to tinnitus. The program provides eight weeks of structured, tinnitus-specific CBT guidance to support long-term relief.
Feedback
We schedule a follow-up appointment with our audiologist at the 4-week mark to monitor your progress. Additional support is available if needed, but most patients do well with a mid-program check-in and a final follow-up at the completion of Oto.
Features of Oto’s Streamlined Smartphone App
Oto’s programming features CBT therapy to help address tinnitus symptoms, but it goes above and beyond to help your hearing health—and keep your needs as a person and a patient at front of mind.
Unlimited support within the app allows for direct access to a tinnitus coach whenever you need some advice or guidance on your treatment or tinnitus symptoms, so you can work on habituating to your symptoms.

Q: What is the difference between Oto and Lenire?
Lenire and Oto both work toward the same goal – tinnitus relief – but they use different approaches. Not everyone responds to the same technique, which is why we offer multiple treatment options with proven outcomes:
- Lenire uses bimodal neuromodulation, stimulating the brain through multiple signals to create a better response pattern to tinnitus.
- Oto focuses on mindfulness and habituation strategies to help your brain adapt to tinnitus over time.
Many patients use Lenire and Oto together, as their different approaches complement one another. Both are excellent options for tinnitus management, and we’d be happy to discuss which one best suits your needs.
Q: Is tinnitus linked to hearing loss
Tinnitus can occur in individuals with normal hearing as well as those with hearing loss. When both tinnitus and hearing loss are present, we work closely with each patient to determine which symptom is most concerning—or if both need to be addressed equally. As a full-service audiology clinic, we provide a comprehensive care plan tailored to your needs, whether that involves tinnitus management, hearing aids, or a combination of both.
Q: Can Oto cure my tinnitus?
As of right now, there is no cure for tinnitus—but there are many options to treat and manage your tinnitus, including Oto’s personalized therapy programs.
Oto can provide lasting relief for your tinnitus symptoms with the help of habituation and CBT therapies.
Q: My tinnitus is much too loud to grow accustomed to! What do I do?
You might be surprised to find that your brain is already well equipped with the skills to habituate yourself to loud noise or distractions.
After all, when was the last time you saw your nose out of the corner of your eye?
Your brain is aware that your nose is between your eyes, but it has become habituated to its presence, and so you don’t actively notice your nose unless you’re thinking about it.
Habituation for tinnitus is the same. With time, practice, and dedication to the personalized treatment that Oto offers, you can find lasting relief from tinnitus.

Patient Stories
"I enjoy so many more activities than before"
“I realized there may be a hearing challenge when I started asking for the hearing impaired headphones at the movie theater. I told myself it was to drown out the other people around me, but it was because I couldn’t hear clearly enough to make out the dialogue."
Becki G
“I’m very satisfied with the care and service Alaska Hearing provide”
“My hearing loss came in two stages. I lost the hearing in one ear due to the mumps at age 12. So I have had single-sided deafness since then. As I got older, I began to lose the hearing in my “good” ear. I have lost some of the higher frequencies. It became difficult to hear certain people speaking and I could see everyone else could hear them fine."
Larry S
"The staff at Alaska Hearing were very friendly and concerned that I understood everything they explained"
“I first thought that I may have a hearing loss when I had to have people repeat what they were saying to me. I didn’t really have any concerns prior to my appointment, as my father wore hearing aids, but I wondered what people would think about me wearing hearing aids."
Sue B
"Doctor McMahan was so kind and made us all feel very comfortable, safe, and cared for"
“My son is autistic and I was worried about how he would respond to being tested. I was very pleased with our first appointment. Doctor McMahan was so kind and patient. She got on our son’s level, explained everything calmly to him, and made us all feel very comfortable, safe, and cared for."
Cal K
“With my hearing aids, I can hear my grandkids, and my wife is a very happy woman”
“I pretty much have had ringing in my ears my whole life. I have always struggled and normally had to be looking at a person to read their lips if I was going to understand a conversation. In large groups, it was useless to try and carry on a conversation. Before my appointment, the cost of hearing aids was a real fear for me."
Joseph L
“My quality of life has drastically improved since purchasing my hearing devices”
“I was 14 or 15 years old and a teacher noticed that I was falling behind in the class discussion. She requested a hearing test and I was informed that I have a significant loss. This was devastating news for a person to receive. Before my appointment at Alaska Hearing, I was afraid I was not going to be able to get the help I needed and that cost would be more than I could afford."
Ryan H
“Now that I can hear, I am not embarrassed to get into a conversation, nor an argument, nor a discussion”
“[My hearing loss] was not immediate, but as time went on, I could tell I wasn’t hearing enough. I became less outgoing. I was in a shell. Less a part of the group. I had originally gone to a discount seller and that’s what I got, a discount set of hearing aids. At my first appointment, I was very impressed and assured they would be doing a good job."
Ronald
“I have much less ringing and I’m able to concentrate more”
“I became concerned about my hearing due to ringing in the ears. I found a comfortable setting and exceptional staff at Alaska Hearing. Now, I have much less ringing and I’m able to concentrate more. It’s a great place to go.”
James
“With my hearing aids, I can hear my family, I can hear better at work, and I feel overall less stressed!”
“I was ashamed I needed help. I am young compared to everyone else I know who wears hearing aids. Before my appointment at Alaska Hearing, I thought I would be pressured into hearing aids. I thought they would be large and noticeable."
CJW
“A hearing test is the start of reconnecting with your world”
“I suspected I might have a hearing loss when I could hear the coffee pot beep in my right ear but not my left ear. Before coming to Alaska Hearing, my biggest concern was price point value. Yes, hearing aids are as expensive as a mid-range laptop, but the benefits are worth it."
